Forgotten History of the Western People: From the Earliest Origins Forgotten History of the Western People: From the Earliest Origins
Author: Gascoigne, Mike
Publisher: Anno Mundi Books
ISBN: 0954392205

Review
This book examines some of the very earliest histories, beginning with the Babylonian ten kings before the flood, the story of Gilgamesh, and the foundation of Troy. The claims of the Greek philosopher Euhemerus are considered, that all the gods were deified kings. The story continues with the destruction of Troy, the flight of Aeneas to Italy and the arrival of his great-grandson Brutus in Britain. The early Irish and Scottish histories are also considered, together with the arrival of Christianity in Britain during the first century and the building of the first church at Glastonbury. Finally, all the histories agree that, just as the world had a beginning, so also it will have an end.

Review
This book traces the early origins of a number of European nations including the Celtic Britons, Irish, Saxons, Danes and Norwegians, claiming that they have records of their descent from Noah which do not come from contact with Christianity. There is also a discussion of dinosaurs and other monsters that appear in Saxon and Danish histories. Finally there are Appendices giving the table of nations descended from the three sons of Noah: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Adam And His Kin Adam And His Kin
Author: Beechick, Ruth
Publisher: Mott Media. (Originally published by Arrow Press).
ISBN: 0940319071

Review
This is a story book, very easy to read, based on the first eleven chapters of Genesis which includes the creation, the fall, the flood, the dispersion from Babylon, and the departure of Abraham from Chaldea. It includes some fictional events which are all very feasible, enhancing the story without distracting from the recorded Biblical history. It also identifies the authors of these chapters of Genesis. They were the actual eye-witnesses of the events, each signing his name at the end of his written account.

Genesis: Finding Our Roots Genesis: Finding Our Roots
Author: Beechick, Ruth
Publisher: Arrow Press
ISBN: 094031911X

Review
This follows the same theme as Adam and His Kin, going through the first eleven chapters of Genesis according to the authors who wrote the various sections. However, it's much more of a homeschooling resource with lesson notes and suggestions for further study. This is a very well illustrated hardback book, comparing Biblical themes with classical art and literature. It's intended to be used together with Adam and His Kin and The Genesis Record.

Although it's written for homeschooling, this book is equally valuable for private study or for parents to read with their children.
